There are many places to fish here in California. The Sierra Nevada mountain ranges offer plenty of beautiful streams, for your fishing pleasure. In my area, I like to head up Highway 108, towards Pinecrest and Strawberry. You can also head towards Angels Camp and Bear Valley, on Highway 4. Actually you can head out towards any of the many passes that go through the Sierras, and you will find great fishing streams.

The camping just goes hand in hand with the fishing trips. Campsites are found almost everywhere, around these streams and rivers. There is nothing better than catching a nice fresh trout, and then cooking him up on the campfire. Now that is living at its best. So I say, pack up your gear and get up to the hills, for some summer fun. Get out there and enjoy the great outdoors, California style!

You can save a lot of money, by buying used items instead of brand new ones. Items such as tents, lanterns, campstoves, and many others, can be purchased used, and found easily. Being used will make them much more affordable for you. Many people buy up all the things that they think they are going to need, only to find out that they do not even want to go camping anymore. This is where you step in and get yourself some great bargains. There mishaps into camping can be your opportunity to save a bundle.

Picking a place to camp can also be a major expense. You need to think about what you can do with or without. Do you need electrical hook-ups? Can you go a few days without a shower? If you are willing to rough it out a little, the rewards will be a much more secluded area, with much less intrusions. You can bring portable showers and batteries, generators and other amenities with you. They will provide you with more than enough little luxuries, to get you through a long weekend of camping.

Going out with my buddy, heading for the delta waters of California, now that is living. We try to get out at least once or twice a month. I wouldn’t mind if it were a little more than that. Oh well, you have to stick around the house a little, I guess. Anyways, back to the fishing. Our last time out, we did pretty well. Each nailing a couple of stripers. Let me tell you, those are some strong, fighting fish. They make you think that you have a shark on the line. Lots of excitement, reeling those puppies in. We caught quite a few smaller catfish too, but we released them.

Getting out with my friend, and doing a little fishing, is probably the best times of my life. Sometimes we just sit there, not saying a word to each other. Knowing though, that it’s ok, we are not mad at each other or anything like that. It is just alright to sit there and be silent sometimes. Not worried about what others think. Just relaxing and thinking about nothing. Waiting to holler, Fish On!

One good thing is, children want to learn. They want to go with you, when you go fishing. A good rule of thumb, is to buy them their own fishing stuff. That way they feel important, and will try a little harder to listen to you. If you are getting all upset about them beating up your rod and reel, it won’t help the situation. One of the best ways for kids to learn, is by watching you. However, do not do everything for them. They need to learn how to put the rig on, bait the hook, and throw it out. Hook sinker and line, they have to do it themselves.
